Need help finding out what this vintage acoustic guitar is!?
I saw an acoustic guitar in a pawn shop that had a steel rod that ran from the headstock-neck joint at an angle to the body, then ran down the length of the body. The guitar did not have a truss rod, and it also had a square sound hole. It was NOT a classical guitar, as that would explain the absence of a truss rod. The brand was something that started with an “F”, but I can’t remember what it said. Can anybody help me out with what brand and how old this guitar is? I’m thinking it is probably pre-1950 (truss rods were first used all Gibsons in 1945), but I could be very wrong.
I’m positive it was NOT Fender. But Fischer seems like too short of a name for what I remember seeing on the headstock.
Fender or Fischer?

Vintage Guild Electric Guitars
In modern times, electric guitars are more often associated with genres like rock and roll, blues rock and jazz. Vintage Electric Guitars Guild However, this instrument has its origins in big band music of the 1930s and 1940s. As the jazz bands of those days grew and wind sections increases correspondingly, the need for a guitar amplified became more and more pronounced. Adolph Rickenbacker, George Beauchamp and Paul Barth, all of whom founded the Electro String Company, is generally credited with the production of the first electric guitars around 1931. Whoever made first, the end result was a guitar pickups used to convert vibration of steel strings on an electric current, which became stronger with an instrument amplifier and speaker.
As mentioned, the ropes always an electric guitar are steel. This is, however, one of the few shared by all different types. Electric guitars come in a variety of models, including solid, hollow, wooden, metal, one of six, seven, eight, nine and twelve string, and even double neck models.
The first them, the solid-body type, is the most common. They are usually some sort of lacquered wood, which can be anything from maple, a KOA, to ebony. The average solid body electric guitar has six strings and the vibrations of this type are produced by guitar strings alone. This is remarkable in comparison with the hollow body electric guitar. Although both types work similarly, the body of the hollow body guitar with the strings vibrate, which means that the tablets convert the two strings and vibration in the body an electrical signal. A semi-hollow body guitar is a combination of solid and hollow types, and in general holds a balance between the attributes of both. Then there are the metal body electric guitars. The bodies of these models are cameras (due to weight considerations), but are designed to be played like solid wood. Finally, the electric guitar can sport one to twelve strings, which makes for, as one can imagine a plethora of sounds and the potential for musical applications.

While there are a number of manufacturers of electric guitars in the world, some are undoubtedly more famous than others. Fender and Gibson, for example, established its reputation in the 1950s as manufacturers of high quality mass-produced guitars, and remain some of the most popular products. Other reputable companies include BC Rich, ESP and Peavey.
The electric guitar has gained some notoriety in recent years, thanks to his association with a number of high profile artists, including Chuck Berry, Jimi Hendrix, Keith Richards and the uncontrollable. Interestingly, has been a movement in recent decades towards the use of electric guitar in contemporary classical music. However, such compositions are not common, and genres of rock and jazz remain the main territory of the electric guitar.
