Open bottle of wine about six months old?
it is red wine, Oak Creek – Cabernet sauvignon, the court has been in it about half way. Doesn’t taste all that bad. Is it save to drink? Does it contain alcohol still?
Thanks
wine won’t stay good unless corked and stored properly, once you open the bottle you have only a short while until it turns to vinegar.

Snuff Bottles from China â € "The feeling in the glass!
The first decided to buy bottles that were not carved in stone were made of glass. A huge range of glass bottles are found in all shapes and colors as well as a variety of manufacturing techniques.
Much more research is needed to date these bottles, but most would now agree that glass and metal were the first materials to be used. The problem is that the glass has been used throughout the entire period up to snuff bottle today.
The Chinese had little use for the glass before the 17th century, mainly due to their highly refined porcelain skills. They had no glass windows by supporting translucent paper. We're not sure if the glass had been used centuries before in China, but it was certainly introduced to them by Europeans in good time for snuff bottles.
Cameo glass
Considered as a material valuable and prominent in the production of fine art. Sometimes it simply as a stone carving and bottles from a solid piece, otherwise, blowing in molds glass. Creating many unusual bottles from clear to white as the background for the color overlay work. You can also control bubbles and by the addition white spots on the glass, the colors and apt suggest these names have been created: – wet snow, Camphor, and snowflakes.
These bottles would then dipped in brightly colored molten glass that later would be carved away to leave a cameo-style design. Some fell more than once to provide more a layer of color. Another technique is to apply to different areas of the bottle of drops of liquid color glass. When these were carved the bottle can have a maximum up to eight different colors cameo carved, without increasing the number of layers.
Quality Counts
To a connoisseur, the number of colors or layers is not very important because it was a difficult process and a much softer material than stone for carving. What really should be assessed is the quality of height and overall design. Very often a beautifully carved and well-designed single color overlay will be worth much more than a multicolor, but poorly finished bottle.
To evaluate these bottles of color is a consideration, but great attention is paid as with cameo carved in stone, the quality of the carving and especially how well the bottom end is near to the edge of the overlay. I provide a ruby red color overlay just as a good example to photography. It shows a spiral "Chih Lung" or dragon on both sides, also has a mythological animal mask and mock ring handles on each shoulder from 1750 to 1860. The dragon birth sign is used more like our zodiac signs. (See the photograph by clicking the link at the bottom of this article).
There is a group of bottles of overlap very special, very finely crafted known as the "Seal of the School ', as they always include a stamp with the design. Were subsequent events and date from the second half of the 19th century.
Although these were made in the same way, the template is much more finely carved and often even the bulk of the template is controlled to create shading. It is normally used opaque white bottles as background, but some also worked in other dull colors. So far, I have never seen in the background clear or snowflake. * The photograph shows a fine bottle of the school seal depicting a pair of cats who play with insects flitting between flowers. Each side is a bowl of fruit on a table while the reverse is another scene of a drunken poet asleep in a garden. (* See the photograph by clicking the link at the bottom of this article).
Layers of glass
Apart from these types of coating not spotted many interesting designs, rotating and color, and the plain colored bottles, both uncut and cut.
Many of them were very complex in how they did: some were destroyed in the molds after finishing hand, and others involved blowing a clear glass into a mold, but then another layer was blown inside the first bottle. This thin layer is a colorful one, however, sandwiched by a layer clear third was also blown in when viewed in the neck of one of these bottles can clearly see these three layers.
A variety of colors were used success, along with gold in the creation of snuff bottles. There is no doubt that their advanced knowledge acquired in firing porcelain, and the form of metal oxides react, they made good use of glass.
It was suggested that apart from the mixture of metals, even small particles of precious stones, as sapphires, emeralds and rubies were added to the molten glass.
Special attention was paid to the feel of the finished material, which was achieved by the kind of polished and even the weight was controlled by the addition of lead. With transparent bottles inside could be controlled, and presented like crazy these names suggest — Cracked Ice, fishing net or Sea Spray.
Most of the really fine snuff bottles were made in the Imperial Workshop and other small glass works around Beijing.
Imitation stone
With such expertise the Chinese were able to do imitations of other surprising materials. There are many bottles that look and feel like jade, aquamarine, agate and other stones. There was a view in the past that the Chinese are such as counterfeit, with intent to deceive. Am sure that this was not the case because it was too easy to find out a thorough inspection. With a small increase in the surface holes that could not be polished out and small bubbles would be demonstrating glass. Finally, unlike the crystal stones can be easily scratched by steel.
The Chinese manufacture convincing enjoy valuable minerals as a demonstration of his ability. One of other minerals was copied Realgar intelligently with their swirls of red and yellow brilliant, impossible to use because of high arsenic content, so that these copies have caused a lot of intrigue.
Imperial Yellow
I have already mentioned that a wide range of colors was used for glass bottles. Colors such as red ruby, sapphire blue and seems to have been the most popular of the first large. However, Emperor Chien-Lung was a favorite color that the decree could only be used by the imperial family and was a dull shade of yellow known now as "Imperial Yellow '.
Not all bottles of this color really are Imperial as after his death, this color was available for all. A real "bottle of Imperial Yellow 'must be one of his age and can only be confirmed by the quality of the bottle and height. The Imperial Yellow 'bottle' the picture is well carved with an archaic design on both sides and is the period from 1736 to 1795. (See the photograph by clicking the link at the bottom of this article).
Painted On The Inside
Is another area of glass bottles that really surprised everyone, which are the "Inside painted 'bottles. I only have a couple examples in the collection, since no favors in general and in my opinion, that never made for use. Snuff Once they got in the picture does not show up well, and spoon soon ruin the paint.
You must also explain that do not restrict the inside of the glass paint, but have applied the same techniques for crystal and chalcedony. However, the vast majority are especially designed glass bottles evenly.
What is remarkable is that through a small hole in the neck I could paint on the inside of landscapes, animals, calligraphy and even portraits. For the image to show through the window painting had to be done to Conversely, all the little details like the tabs for example, had to paint first! All these bottles are signed by the artist and many, some very attractive also, they are still doing today.
For our own collection I felt that we should have one or two examples and I was fortunate to buy the oldest known, dated and signed into the bottle painted by Kan-Wen Huan. He is one of the first artist well known and highly respected. He has painted the interior of a rock crystal bottle a scene of Buddhist Lions with a poem on the back. This bottle is signed and dated in 1822. (See the photograph by clicking the link at the bottom of this article).
Later we acquired another example of rock crystal, and these two are the only bottles painted inside we have. I think this is quite remarkable, since interior space is so limited, it is difficult to imagine how a beautiful picture was achieved on a surface without completely ruining the other.
At first would been a double bottle very bad. I do not know if the damaged part that was deleted was made before it was painted, but I think it would have been. This was a very bad emptied the bottle, of little value, before it was painted.
In my opinion, is the fact that it was so bad that the hole makes the painting even more amazing! Check out the picture. A continuous scene of fish between aquatic plants was painted in red, gold, pink, white, green and grisaille, dated 1896 and signed Chan-Chu Yuan. This crystal has a defect natural stone added to the water appeal under this image. (See the photograph by clicking the link at the bottom of this article).
Most glass bottles purposefully made to paint the interior are much larger than the glass. Some of the paintings made however are difficult to believe possible. There are even pictures that are so well done that just look as good as black and white photographs!
