In California, if a crossing guard lowers her stop sign can I drive through?
I got a ticket today at a crosswalk. I know the law that all people have to clear the crosswalk before driving through (I even saw the cop) but I was following the cross guard’s gestures. Just how we follow a traffic cop’s hand signals and how they override traffic lights, I was following the crossing guard’s signals.
I read in the California “Crossing Guard Training Manual” that the stop sign has to remain raised “until all the students have cleared the crosswalk and you have returned to your position on the curb area,” but the guard lowered her sign and walked with the kids to the curb. The manual also says “Dropping [the stop sign] your side indicates to them it is safe for them to proceed and could result in confusion and danger to yourself”. Should I contest this ticket?
I think im going to go to the cross walk tomorrow and try and get photographic evidence of her lowering her sign.
I would say that if she dropped the sign that it meant you can go. But the cops going to lie and say she still had the sign up and you drove through it so the judge is going to side with him. I think you are in a no win situation.

Crossing the Ecuador
Crossing the line ceremonies matched the initiation ceremonies of the medieval guilds, and by the 16th century, a model of customs Europe had emerged in shipping to provide a "baptism" for all the sailors on board who have not previously crossed the Ecuador. Neptune, generally the oldest sailor who had crossed the Ecuador of the majority … and his entourage approached the bow of the ship and take cover. The party could, including "Davy Jones' or the devil, two 'Bears', men dressed in furs that Neptune would pull cart, a' Barber ' and a 'Doctor'. Often Amphritrite Neptune was accompanied by the wife of Triton or Neptune, usually a young sailor dressed in a wig and flamboyant women's clothing.
The ceremony of crossing the line is an initiation rite in the Royal Navy, U.S. Navy, Indian Navy and other navies which commemorates a sailor's first crossing Ecuador. Originally the tradition was created as a test for experienced sailors to ensure their new classmates were able to manage difficult times longer at sea. The sailors who have crossed and Ecuador are nicknamed Sailor, often referred to as Sons of Neptune, and those who have not are nicknamed tadpoles.
"King Neptune and His Court "(usually including his first assistant Davy Jones and her Highness Amphitrite and often various dignitaries, who are represented by the most senior people sea) officiate at the ceremony, during which the tadpoles undergo a series of difficult tests increasingly repugnant (the use of clothes inside out and backwards, crawling on hands and knees covered anti-slip coated, flattened with short lengths of hose, being locked in the stocks and pillory and threw soft fruit, crawling through ducts and pipes large rotting garbage, kissing the baby belly fat Real coated central axis, cutting the hair, etc), especially for the entertainment of the Mariner.

In 1995, a line known crossing ceremony took place on a submarine HMAS Onslow. A sailor was sexually assaulted with a stick long before all sailors undergoing the ceremony were forced to jump overboard until permitted to climb back aboard the submarine. A videotape of the ceremony was obtained by the Nine Network and distributed by Australian television. The television coverage of widespread criticism, especially when the videotape showed some of the officers of the submarine is watching whole process of the turret.
Most of the marinas, since then, instituted regulations which prohibit physical attacks on the seamen who are in crossing the line ceremony. In modern times, instead of a dreaded rite of passage, crossing the line ceremony has become a popular tradition in all the many traditional marine and Coast Guard.
Line crossing ceremonies are also held in some ships of the Merchant Navy. However, without the supervision of military justice, which often can get out of hand and lead to abuse and assault which occurred in line crossing ceremonies of the past.
